The French club, Marseille, has been hit with yet another injury blow as William Saliba is set to miss several weeks after suffering a knee ligament injury during training on Wednesday.

Saliba, who joined Marseille from Arsenal for a reported fee of €65 million last summer, has already suffered two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in his short career and this latest setback could see him out of action for up to six months.

Marseille manager Lucien Favre has revealed that the defender will be out for at least three weeks, but it remains unclear whether he will make a full recovery in time for the upcoming season or if he may require surgery.

This latest injury update comes just days after Saliba was sent off in Marseille's 1-0 defeat to Toulouse in Ligue 1. The defender was shown a straight red card for an aggressive tackle on Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Despite the setback,Football Encyclopedia Book Marseille have continued to look strong defensively in their first few games of the season, conceding only one goal so far. However, they now face uncertainty in the position of their leading defender, which could impact their chances of challenging for top spot in the league.

It remains to be seen how long Saliba will be out of action and what steps Marseille will take to replace him in the team. However, the loss of such a key player will undoubtedly leave them with some tough decisions to make as they look to secure their place in Europe next season.
